‘Poster Power! Great Posters and How to Make Them’ is a new book by designer and illustrator Teresa Sdralevich published by Cicada Books that is the perfect book for anyone interested in the poster medium. Whether you are a student or a professional ‘Poster Power! Great Posters and How to Make Them’ offers many simple yet intelligent exercises that get you thinking visually and differently. These exercises are the secret to this book because it gets you to become an active participant in numerous activities that become a workshop.
From the beginning Teresa gets you creating posters which gives you a step by step process of how to make a great poster. The poster is such a wide form of visual communication and the book does a wonderful job by showcasing many important areas such as typography, composition, colour, framing, symbolism and many more. Humour is also a very important aspect which portrays the message that the author would like you to play and enjoy the poster creation process (from the initial steps of brain-storming to the final poster).
The book features many iconic posters from some of the best graphic designers from around the world such as Saul Bass (USA), Lex Drewinski (Poland, Niklaus Troxler (Switzerland), Milton Glaser (USA) and many more that is hugely inspirational while also explaining why these posters function in relation to various styles and concepts.
Finally at the end of the book it provides some fantastic material called the ‘Poster Power Kit’ which includes lettering, icons and illustrations that can be cut out and used to help you get started with your own poster master-piece.

Last week was the official opening of the Retroavangarda’s Collage Art Exhibition in Warsaw, Poland. It was an honour to have my work exhibited with some of the best collage artists throughout the world.
The project gathered 105 designers from 30 different countries. The remarkable result of their collaborations were 69 posters, dedicated to the cultural heritage of their countries. The aim of WGD was once again successful: People with a different origin, language, culture or gender, were inspired and created without physical contact, taking advantage of the opportunity that is given to them by modern technology.
